Pierre is home to the Central Division of the U.S. District Court for the District of South Dakota and the federal Bankruptcy Court before which all members of the firm are admitted to practice.

The firm has consistently received high ratings for their legal ability and integrity in the legal area. All attorneys regularly attend and participate in continuing legal education seminars and professional association meetings throughout the United States and South Dakota.

Members of the firm are active in the Bar Association, professional organizations, Pierre Chamber of Commerce and many civic and fraternal organizations. Several members of the firm have lectured at Continuing Legal Education seminars sponsored by the State Bar of South Dakota.

The firm offers a comprehensive real estate practice which includes not only commercial litigation and transactions, but also assistance with the scale and transfer of business and farm realty and assets. The law firm has experience with foreclosures, condemnations, mechanic's liens, landlord-tenant disputes, title actions, easement disputes, boundary-line disputes, and other issues relating to the ownership, sale, or lease of property.

Estate planning services include such basics as drafting Trusts, Wills, Living Wills and Durable Powers of Attorney, to more complex plans to assist clients in realizing their estate planning objectives.

To Our Profession

Four of the current and past members of the firm have served as president of the South Dakota State Bar Association. Other state bar positions occupied by firm members have included Chairs of the Bar's Ethics Committee, Administrative Law Committee, Continuing Legal Education Committee, and the Real Property, Probate and Trust Law Section. Their law association involvement also includes the American Bar Association, American Bar Foundation, Defense Research Institute (DRI), American Board of Trial Advocates, American College of Trial Lawyers, International Society of Barristers, American College of Trust and Estate Counsel, South Dakota Defense Lawyers Association, and the Central South Dakota Teen Court.
